About me
Hello and welcome to my website / virtual CV. On this page I have posted many of the wondrous projects that I have undertaken for University and personal work. My work is viewable through navigating the main page. The work has been split into sections to make it more navigable.
I am currently studying at Portsmouth University towards a BSc in Computer Games Technology. I am currently in my second year. I have also spent two fascinating years learning Computer Engineering. These extra two years taught me a great many things unfortunately the course was not for me so I left to find greener pastures as it were. I am far happier in Computer Games its where I should have gone in the first place.
During my spare time at Pompy, I put a lot of effort into several clubs, the Scuba diving club (now called UPDUC) I have been, IT and communications Secretary, Dive co-ordinator, and now Advanced Training Officer. I have been an instructor since 2005 teaching around the country and some times in other countries. Through much experimentation me and several other members of the dive club have now developed our own qualification level designed to inspire confidence and promote better diving while showing students the fun side to scuba diving, for more information check out http://legendarydiver.pbworks.com/
I also train a great deal with the teams Under Water Hockey Team, formally known as Octopush. This sport is effectively ice hockey done at the bottom of the pool, except you swim with fins and hold your breath.
In the evenings I am a Door supervisor for a company called JJ Protection Services working in and around Portsmouth. During my time working as a Door Supervisor I have earned a District Commanders Congratulations for my invaluable and speedy response during a large public order incident. I also work for a company called Main Event Security where I work occasionally at the O2 arena as security as well as an invaluable member of the team at Festivals around the country.
My hobbies include, other than scuba diving I greatly enjoy music and regularly attend gigs as well as stand up comedy shows. In my time at home I tend my marine fish tank, this hobby is a diverse and complicated one which has required a lot of patience on my part but in the end it is very fulfilling. The Marine fish tanks are the most complicated of all the fish tanks to care for. The tanks need regular maintenance with regards to the chemicals and bacterial life in the water. Before starting my adventure at university I took a gap year to travel around the world where I saw a great many things which opened my eyes to the world. I spent half of my gap year working as an IT consultant for a company called Semaphore Communications (http://www.sema4.demon.co.uk/). Here I learned a great deal about database and Network management, I became very adept at the application called Filemaker, during my time at this position I attended several advanced courses in Filemaker by some of the best developers in the world. I also attended the developer’s conference in Florida for that year where I learned volumes from the other developers.
During my time at College I achieved a triple Distinction in the BETEC of Computer ICT practitioner, as well as becoming a level 4 CCNA Cisco engineer.
